The Shadows of Christianity

One way we can look at Christianity (and indeed, all the world’s wisdom traditions) is as a technology that was developed in antiquity to address the specific needs of humanity at that time.

By way of analogy, the Pony Express was created as a communications technology in the 19th century to address humanity’s need to rapidly send messages across long distances. The Pony Express isn’t bad. We just don’t use it anymore because Gmail and Zoom work better.

If we were to redesign and adapt Christian technology to 21st century life, what might that look like? What new agreements could we make together to give rise to new kinds of communities? In this month’s sangha, we bring a contemplative and activist eye to the power of Christianity, as well as its shadows and inherent limitations.

Join us at Lower Lights in July for a spirited evening of soulcraft and reimagining our collective future.
