3-Day Workshop – Living an Extra•ordinary Life: IPP as Life Practice

William Blake famously wrote in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell: “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.” In the spirit of cleansing the doors of perception and falling back into the Infinite, Lower Lights will host John Kesler, founder of Integral Polarity Practice (IPP) for a 3-day immersion program February 9th-11th, 2018. Through full-spectrum mindfulness, developmental theory and praxis, movement and We-Space, we will dedicate ourselves during this time to experiencing the extra-ordinary bloom of Spirit in each ordinary moment.

Mindfulness for Missionaries

An LDS mission can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life for those who serve. It can also be an intense, stressful, even disillusioning experience in unanticipated ways.

After serving the Salt Lake area with high-quality mindfulness instruction for many years, we’ve found that there is a particular benefit to holding missionaries in a meditative space where they can reflect on and process their diverse experiences together. Beyond helping missionaries make new meaning of the past, our unique approach teaches soul-changing skills that position return missionaries to thrive in their lives moving forward.

Burning of the Sorrows: A New Year's Ritual

On New Year's Eve we will meet for meditation, shadow writing, the burning of sorrows. The intention will be to bring awareness to our deepest holdings, perhaps even regrets, that have piled up during the last year of gorgeous Life. Through a facilitated writing process, we will collectively and systematically comb through the tunnels, caverns and deep recesses of Self in order to churn up any psychic material that is ripe for release. After the writing process, we will take the journal leaves that we produce (along with any objects you wish to bring) and burn them ceremonially in a bonfire outside of the Wasatch Retreat Center.
