Periodically, extended periods of silent meditation are extremely beneficial for working through challenging content in the body and mind that is difficult to access through daily meditation practice alone. In addition to deep healing, the practice of retreat also facilitates a profound opening of awareness into its naturally expansive and joyful state. Ultimately, the trajectory of mindfulness practice is to help us bring our highest awareness to every moment of life, whether we’re formally meditating or not. Retreat is an indispensable tool in helping us accomplish this.
The upcoming retreat will include a gentle rhythm of:
•still sitting (formal meditation)
•private interviews with the teacher
•daily dharma talks
•delicious, home-cooked meals by on-site staff (vegetarian and vegan options available)
Lower Lights values not just providing a space for deepening awareness practice, but to do so at a rate that is affordable to a broad socioeconomic range. We have sought volunteer staffing and modest accommodations (a log cabin) to provide this retreat at a rate far below market value.
Our intention is to provide a sufficiently comfortable and supportive environment at the retreat to allow participants to do deep work within themselves. Please be advised that accommodations are simple and sparing.
