Conflict: Transmuting the Three Poisons
Conflict is challenging, even for those of us who say we like it. The moment differences in our relationships rear their head, the body tends to go into panic mode: “Will we be able to get through this fight?” “Am I still loved even if I see things very differently than you in some ways?” “How can I listen to them if they’re not listening to me?” Our emotions surge, compromising the angels of our better nature.
And yet to simply make nice and avoid conflict doesn’t feel satisfying either. When we pretend that everything is okay in our relationships and tiptoe around the underlying tensions, we begin to live in very small spaces; our connections feel increasingly claustrophobic.
What do the Wisdom traditions have to teach us about the timeless art of skillful conflict? Join Lower Lights this month where we will explore different styles of conflict and the gifts they can bring to human life.
